I know some people who are hardcore against drinking beer that are not “independent”, I can’t claim to be like this. Seems hypocritical of me to complain about AB from my iPhone, while I’m watching tv on my Samsung, and wearing Under Armor. One thing I have always been curious about, for those who shy from non independent beers, what at the thoughts of AB inbevs minority ownership of pico brew?

Not trying to offend or piss anybody off. I just don’t pick what i buy based off who owns it.

It’s not about not supporting big companies. Apple and Samsung aren’t intentionally trying to drive small independent brewers out of business like AB/InBev. Sure Wicked Weed and others make some great beer, I just choose not to support them and spend my money on independent breweries or ones that have funding from sources that aren’t quite so evil. Not to say I haven’t guzzled a few high life’s in my day or bought/enjoyed the occasional bourbon county stout.

I feel like I can draw a distinction between Lagunitas/Heineken, Founders/San Miguel, Firestone Walker/Duvel and the wholly owned InBev breweries like 10 Barrel, Golden Road, and Elysian. InBev has specific plans to buy as many craft breweries as they can and then undercut the rest of the market by selling beer at below market value to corner the market and force independent breweries out of business, so buying their beer is supporting their agenda. Heineken, San Miguel and Duvel are providing capital and resources to support expansion and increased production to the breweries they are partnered with, without the world domination alterior motives. Of course no corporation can be completely altruistic, but some are better than others.
