Name Change and Rebranding
- Legal agreement with Beer Nuts Snacks has been reached, signed and mailed.
A meeting of the cabinet with Fusion Farm to work on brand strategy is being planned.
The three top nominated names are Cedar Rapids Brewers Society (CRBS), Cedar Rapids Area Fermentation Team (CRAFT), and Cedar Rapids Area Society of Homebrewers (CRASH).
The results of ballot voting to select a leading favored candidate name is as follows: CRBS: 9, CRAFT: 6, CRASH: 5, and three write-ins.
The cabinet will go forwards with these results to build a brand name and strategy with help from Fusion Farm.
Plan is to have legal paperwork, brand strategy and graphics completed in time for a public relaunch coordinated with the Benz Beer Festival in May.
- Fundraiser event benefiting FilmScene.
Wort was distributed in December.
Pouring/Tasting event at the Big Grove location in Iowa City on January 20.

Membership Logistics
- A roster of membership is legally required and will help us maintain better communication with our members. Roster will include name, phone number, email, and preferred means of social media contact.
Cabinet agreed that dues are again $20 for 2018. This will be collected by cash, check, credit card starting at the January general meeting or online credit card via Square.
- We are coordinating with Iowa Brewing Company again this year.
A list of available malts and pricing has been posted on the forums. Base malts only; please support our local homebrew supply store, BIY Homebrew, for other ingredients and supplies.
New this year is paying the estimated cost upfront at time of order. This is intended to speed logistics at pickup and keep the club from floating the cost of your grain.
Pickup is required on the day of delivery to Iowa Brewing Company. They cannot store your grain.
- Cabinet agreed that five $50 gift cards to BIY will be given in recognition of participation in the 2017 happy hour pourings at Lion Bridge Brewing. Selection of the five awardees will be made by random drawing.
