30 Hop Coming to Cedar Rapids

They are going to take over Axel's on Blair's Ferry Road.

I saw that. Hoping they bring in the same stuff on tap here that they do in Coralville. They seem to get stuff we don't see up here. And, I like their food (assuming the menu is the same/similar.)

Maybe third times the charm with this location? If anyone can make a go of it, I think they've got as good a shot as anybody.

Man, I really thought the Riley's group (Axel's) would be able to manage a location like that. Hopefully 30hop can. It's a great building, just an odd location. I've also heard rumor that the rent there is outrageous.

I can’t find it now but someone at work sent me the link to the business sale for Axel’s, rent is $13,000 a month.

No wonder no one can make a go of it at that kind of insane rent!

When I saw it under costruction I knew this would happen. That is an expensive building. That equals high rent. Hard to make it work when setting your cost basis so high. Rent usually gets cheaper each time the new place moves in. I hope 30 Hop can make a go of it. Similar case for the place near corner of Edgewood and Blair's Ferry. The price they paid for the land alone was very high.
