I am looking at 15 gal | Ss Brew Kettle.
https://www.ssbrewtech.com/products/cop ... -15-gallon
It is induction compatible, which gives me the flexibility I would like if I want to transition to electric.
If anyone has any experience, good or bad, with this product, I would be interested in hearing from you.
If anyone has any other recommendations, I would welcome them as well. I have been reading up on Spike, Anvil, and MegaPot.
Ss Brew Tech seems to be the best value.

Not a big fan of supporting (or boycotting) Northern Brewer, but the 15 Gallon Edelmetall Bru Kettle is looking pretty sweet. It comes with a tangential port for whirlpooling, swivel thermometer, two ball valves, and it is induction capable. $350 retail but $300 with the 15% discount.

It is the only kettle of this class that has the tangential port and is induction ready. The extra $50-$60 for the tangential, might be worth it.
Any opinions, thoughts?

Tangential is very nice. I love mine. Personally, i prefer welded fittings. Nothing wrong with weldless, just personal preference. Lot of other options if induction not key.

You might also look at Spike Brewing. Also induction capable, but no tangential inlet. I don't have any of the Spike Brewing products, but Joe from BIY has some in his home brewhouse.

Edelmetall it is. Should be able to use it this weekend.
This is my second new purchase for my brewery, Blichmann HellFire burner was the first.
Also purchased Northern Brewers Mad Brewer Deluxe Brew Lab Kit, which include a cheap plastic thief, a refractometer (Brix and SG), a HOPS scale, a digital thermometer, and a pH meter. On sale for $99.

Make sure to use either the Brewer's Friend or Sean Terrill's refractometer calculator for corrections!

What are the corrections for - temperature?

It is to correct for the difference between measuring what is essentially sugar water (which is what a refractometer is built to do) and wort. Wort refracts light differently than sugar water, so a calibration factor needs to be computed and then factored in when measuring the gravity of wort.

Does anyone know if BeerSmith makes this correction in its conversion from Brix to Specific Gravity?
