Beer Sensory Workshop - May 14

Post by falsenorth »

Iowa Brewers Guild & the Iowa Craft Beer Tent will be presenting an off-flavor sensory training workshop at The Quarter Barrel Arcade & Brewery on May 14. Cory O’Neel of Olde Maine Brewing Company will be leading the workshop. Learn not only how to identify off-flavors such as acetaldehyde, diacetyl, and dimethyl sulfide (along with nine others) but also where they come from and how they can be avoided. Seating is limited. 21+

Monday May 14th at 6:30pm. https://app.tikly.co/events/2723

The Quarter Barrel is usually closed on Mondays, so games will be left off to cut down on extraneous noise.

Thanks for posting this here. We did sensory training with off flavor kit over several tech sessions years ago. It was very informative.

I signed up for this event on May 14. I want more training!

This is interesting to me also. I missed the training a few years ago and have been looking for another source. I have signed up as well. (Hopefully the fact that my ugly mug will be attending doesn't discourage anyone...)

This looks awesome but unfortunately I will be on my way to a large island in the Atlantic Ocean at the time(Iceland). We should do another tech session on this sometime, I would definitely be interested.

I attended and thought it was a good experience. We all agreed that continuing training of the senses is necessary to develop and maintain high sensitivity to detect off flavors while judging and critically evaluating one's own beers.

I plan to attend such events again and hope we can sponsor these for our membership.
