I have been chatting with Mark Simpson of the Ames Brewers League. I am planning to attend their mead day on Sept 28th. Mark says members of the CRBS are welcome to attend. Big change for mead day this year!

The county has just started replacing the bridge by my house so the road is going to be closed for the next 4 months. To get to my house you will have to go the back way, the party will remain pretty much the same though.

Ames Brewers League annual mead day will be held Saturday, September 29th starting at 2:00 in the afternoon. We will have a number of meads and ciders to sample including the apple cyser that was made last year. I will also have a couple of beers on tap if you get to the point you have had enough sugar.

We can discuss making a club mead at the next ABL meeting. There will also be some honey available for purchase if someone wants to make their own mead. If you want to buy honey please let me know in advance so I can get it measured out for you.

The apple presses will also be available if anyone has any fruit that they want to press.

Supper will be provided, but feel free to bring any sides or beverages that you wish to share.

The directions

The address is still 25405 Sand Hill Trail, Ames , IA. To get to our house take Highway 30 east towards Nevada. The first road to the east of I35 is Sand Hill Trail which is now closed so continue on until you get to second road which is 580th Ave. Turn right and drive south 2 miles to 260th Street. Turn right and drive a mile to the west and you will get to Sand Hill Trail, turn right again and head back north for a ½ mile to our drive way.
