Meeting was called to order at 8:10 pm with 17 members in attendance.

Old Business

Name Change and Rebranding
Paperwork is slowly progressing with the office of the Iowa Secretary of State. Official document registering the change in name has been signed and sent. We are presently awaiting their response to submitted papers.

Club Competitions
Watch the club forums for details and announcements.
October - American Amber (19A)
2019 beer styles (randomly selected) and turn-in dates
January - American Stout (20B)
April - American Pale Ale (18B)
July - Fruit Beer (29)
October - Dunkelbock (6C)
Mead style will be berry mead (M2B) and turn-in will be at the May general meeting. A tech session, led by Pat McCusker, has been announced through the forums and will be held on September 25th, 2018.

“Bunged” Competition
Theme for this year is no hops.
Turn-in for judging will be at the September General Meeting. (Late change reinstating judging announced September 20.)
Feature and People’s Choice will be at the September Happy Hour at Lion Bridge Brewing.

CRBS Festival
Did very well this year with 305 attendees
Guests and professional brewers felt welcome, many indicated they would like to participate again next year
Again a big “Thank You!” to Mark Jensen who was our festival coordinator and did a huge amount of work to make sure this event went well
Need more tents for next year - cabinet agreed that one more large (10x20) and one high-quality small (10x10) tent should be purchased
Next year we hope to have a local charity as well. Please feel free to nominate by contacting a cabinet member.
Need to do a better job with organization of the trailer and maintenance of the bars and tap boxes. The cabinet will work on getting better storage boxes and getting procedures and equipment available for cleaning.

Technical/Educational Presentations
Schedule these for the fall after the summer rush and our festival.
Karl volunteers to do an introduction to all-grain brewing on a budget at the “Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day” in November, likely at NewBo Market
Gluten Free Brewing -- Daryl McCall
Non-enzymatic mashing -- Josh Peanasky
Membership is invited to volunteer to present other topics of interest.

New Business

Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day - November 3
Please help present and share the homebrew hobby at the NewBo Market - bring your brew rig and brew at NewBo
Arrive and set up at 9:00
Start brewing at 10:00
Clean up at 3:00 or before

Club Winter/Christmas Party
December 8, at Thew Brewing, 7:00 pm until they throw us out
All members, each with spouse or a guest, are invited to come join the celebration
As always, bring your favorite beers and favorite foods to share.
We all collect some good brew and make tasty food -- this party alone is worth the cost of dues!

2019 Lion Bridge/CRBS Pro Am Qualifying Competition and Wort Rally....

At this point we have the People's Choice/Pour Event coinciding with the May Happy Hour.....that happens to be Memorial Day Weekend.

I would appreciate feedback, either here or at tomorrow's meeting, if we believe we should move that event to a different date?

Ana McClain suggested that they might spring for a permit for us to hold the event in the parking lot....we could have 60 or more entries! Which could be quite the mini-festival - could promote our August festival.

Knowing this far in advance is helpful to block off that date for some. But graduation parties, and just being that weekend things can come up as well which might make it difficult.
I worry about public turnout for that weekend. Other people might not be as inclined to set aside that date for this or will be out of town. What was public turnout like this year memorial day happy hour? Use that for a stat to consider i would say.
