If you order stuff online try http://www.ritebrew.com. They are in Wisconsin. I ordered some hops, yeast and grain yesterday after 10am. Order was around $76. You get $5 off orders over $75. Made my shipping a little over $1. Was on my door step when got home from work. If you order before 1pm it is usually at your house next day with cheapest option. I use a lot of Omega yeast which they sell for $5.99. Really fresh too. Today's yeast was made 3/5/19. Good prices on most stuff. They have Wyeast too. Check them out.

Yup. My shipping on last order was $6 but cut to $1 with the over $75 discount. Yeast is great at $5.99 a pack. Hops by the pound very competitive and grain as well.

I'm going to place my next order from them. Farmhouse used to be fast like that but all my recent orders have taken too long. When I'm buying yeast I don't want it sitting in a truck for days. I also want fresh packs. I placed a yeast order with Farmhouse a couple of weeks ago and paid for next day because I was worried it would freeze. The dates were a mixed bag with a couple of late February's, one January and a couple December which is pushing it IMHO.

I stopped by BIY today and their yeast selection was poor. I got their last 1056 and it was dated 2/7. All of the WL yeast I looked at were dated Nov. Yikes. Also got their last US-05.

If they can't keep fresh yeast in stock, it's telling me that they aren't turning it over - i.e., not getting a lot of business. This is a death spiral - folks disappointed in your store's lack of inventory, shop elsewhere, store sales keep dropping, lack of $$ to replenish stock - repeat until out of business!

Yeah, it is a bummer but the yeast is almost half the price, fresher and I really like Omega. I use over a pound of hops in IPAs so cannot buy by the ounce it costs too much.

I took your recommendation and placed an order on Monday night for yeast, specialty grains and a couple fermonsters. Shipping was a little more with the carboys, but still only like $12 with the $5 off. My Wyeast is dated 3/17, the Omegas are a bit older 2/25 and 1/19 but they are more unusual strains. All their yeast is guaranteed viable though. It all arrived on Wednesday, nice!

Yeah, been using these guys for a couple of years since they're near where I grew up. Great folks and have always been super helpful when there's order issues.

Figured I would try it as well for specialty grains being biy didn't have what I needed in stock as well as out of or dated yeast I wanted. Place an order noon Monday and it arrived over the lunch hour today. 48 hours from ordering to my door.

Which unfortunately seems to be happening more and more lately. I think the ship is taking on more water than the bilge pump can handle.

I don't think they have enough inventory to keep two stores open like they used to they be much better off shutting one down and having a fuller stock. I'd much rather drive a little bit more distance than get told that they do have what I need just not at that location. Marion store seems pretty slim pickings and has for a while. Has anybody been to the North Liberty store? Is that where all the inventory is at?
