Does a center inlet help with cavitation? Other than pump configuration what are the advantages?

It should help with cavitation.

But regardless of the orientation of the inlet/outlet, I think the stainless steel is easier to clean and maintain over plastic.

It seems to help in my setup but was not a huge issue for me before. I bought it to upgrade from a plastic head years ago from Andrew.
