Cedar Rapids Brewing Society

Tentatively planning to do something stupid on Saturday, June 29, 2019. I am going to do a multiple batch brew day, bottle share, pot luck all day event. Basically come check out the brewery in action, bring some cool beers to share, and maybe some food too. Going to be very casual. Come for a beer or stay for the day. Come and go at anytime until the party shuts down. Not sure what time I will get started yet but will post here when I know. Will likely have a fire in the back yard and stupid funny movies playing on the big screen.

Plans are tentative because I am doing this while my wife is out of town. If her trip falls through, or something kid related gets in the way, this event will likely be cancelled.

I plan to do two batches that will equal 4 beers when the day is through. First batch will be an all pilsner malt mash that I will split in to two separate whirlpool hop stands to produce a Pilsner and a West Coast style American Pale Ale. An all pilsner malt pale ale? Yes, same as Industrial Arts Tools of the Trade. Dry, clean, and hoppy. The second mash will be Fuck Your Face Triple IPA. First runnings will go to making the triple IPA. Second runnings will become beer number 4 that day, Little Fucker.

Is this a bad idea to have a bunch of people at your house getting drunk while trying to pull off a complicated brew day? Yes.
Will I likely be too drunk to do the second mash but do it anyway? Yes.
Will the beers turn OK? Most likely.
Will we watch PCU and Out Cold? Most certainly.
Might I pass out on my own couch before you leave? It has happened before.

Hope you can stop by for a beer or several that Saturday. I will post details on time and directions to my house closer to the day of the event.

I have put it on the calendar. I will try to make it.

We all hear this guy at least once at any festival.

Kendra and I are doing the Big Rove ride that day, but may be able to hang out after that (late afternoon).

If we do, I'll be sure to bring a ton of beer to help lighten the move.

I may be in Minnesota by then, but if I’m in town I will come by for sure. I get back from Italy on the 22nd. My cellar is in need of some downsizing.

This event is still a go. Continue to watch this thread in case I have to cancel for some unknown reason. Like when my son gashed his head on the stair rail an hour after I got home from vacation Friday and had to go to the ER for stitches. That stuff happens. I will open up the doors at 10 am. Stop by then or anytime after, likely in to the midnight hour.

When you arrive, walk in to the back/side yard and come through the walkout basement. It is to the left of the front door. That is the speakeasy entrance.

I won't be making it this weekend.

Looks like it is going to be hot on on Saturday. Good thing I am brewing in my basement with the A/C on!
