This looks pretty interesting.

It appears to be similar to the other counter pressure fillers, except this one shoots beverage directly through the tap, and the QD on the CO2 input is convenient. You can also buy an extender to insert into your tap and drive the filler.

I know someone who bought one of these. I'm waiting for his thoughts on it.

That is pretty cool.

I own one but the unit had issues. Tor, the inventor/owner at Tap Cooler, seems cool to work with. We ran a couple of tests and he's shipping me a new body for the unit. I like how simple it is to use and, assuming the next one doesn't leak, will recommend it to anyone. Cleanup is pretty easy too.

Lee - do you think the issues were a production issue (a one-off), or a design issue (systemic to each unit)?

OR, knowing what you know now, would you still buy one?

I'd like to get a counter pressure filler, this one has been my first choice....but I could make others work as well I think.

I think it was a one-off defect but won't know until the replacement parts show up (hopefully this week). If it works, I would definitely recommend it to others. The ball lock adapter for the gas inlet side is a good accessory to pick up. Also, take care to note which faucets you have as there is a different filler adapter for the older style Perlicks. Shipping is a bit slow to Norway but if you time the currency conversion right you can get a pretty good price directly from Tapcooler.

I ordered one of these and tried for the first time today. I had no problems with it. It's a little more complicated than the beer gun and takes longer to fill bottles (you can adjust the fill speed). But I had zero foaming without having to get my keg pressure just right which is big. I'm hopeful this will improve my bottling quality. It fits nice and snug into my Intertap taps. I got the ball-lock gas adapter as I have an extra long gas line that reaches my taps. I was also pleasantly surprised at how compact it is.

I finally got mine working the other day. It mostly worked but foam came out of the pressure relief valve once the bottle was full. Randy, did that happen on yours? Tor claims it's perfectly normal for it to foam out that port, but I can't help but wonder if he's just sick of shipping me replacement parts.

Yes, I had a little bit of foam but I assumed that was normal. They make an add-on drain tube for it I think. But I just put a little plastic container under it and in my drip tray so it was easier clean and I didn't know quite what to expect.

Thanks, that's good to know. Overall it seems like a really great little tool for quick and easy bottle filling. Not sure I'd do a full batch this way, but certainly nice for a dozen or fewer bottles.

I agree. All of the beer bottling I do these days are for competitions. So mostly a few at a time. This is actually quicker to set up than the beer gun and is a breeze to sanitize and clean too. Time will tell if it improves the quality of the judged product as well. I did actually a fair number of bottles through it yesterday though as I'm getting entries ready for IBU and NHC (which needs 5 bottles per entry if you aren't re-brewing).
