2020 Style Competition Judging
Posted: Mon Jan 06, 2020 9:56 am
Just a reminder that turn-ins for the first style competition are at the monthly meeting on the 16th. The style this time around is Irish Extra Stout (15C). I've attached a form you can use for your entries. I'm going to attempt to email out result sheets this year so please make sure you include an email address on the form. It would also be useful to have your forum user ID in case I need to send them as a PM.
Please attach your bottle labels with rubber bands. Do not tape them or glue them on bottles. A pro tip is to put the label in a small plastic bag and then attach with a rubber band. That helps protect them from condensation, especially in the summer months.
We need volunteers to help with judging and stewarding. This is a great opportunity to learn about beers are judged and to develop important beer making skills. You are welcome to join us even if you don't have any experience. Everyone has to start somewhere. We generally do not allow folks to be judges if they have a beer entry. Stewarding is fine though. Being a steward is a great way to learn about the process. Basically a steward just keeps the entries straight and puts the finished score sheets together. Stewards also get to try all of the beers!
I'm shooting for either Tuesday the 21st or Wednesday the 22nd. If that doesn't work out then the following week: the 28th or 29th. Please let me know as soon as possible if you can help and what dates work. We generally try to get started around 7pm. Location to be determined.
