Hops for housing 2020
Just got an email inviting the club to pour beer at the Hops for Housing event fundraiser for Willis Dady. Assuming I don’t have anything else already scheduled I’m planning on going. Let me know as soon as you can if anybody else wants to come pour or send beer. We’ll figure out if we’ll use the table top bar or maybe just bring bottles/growlers based on interest.
Dear Friends in Beer,
The 5th Annual Willis Dady Hops for Housing Beer Festival is scheduled for Saturday April 4th from 2:30-5:30PM. The event will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial Building 50 2nd Avenue Bridge Cedar Rapids Iowa 52401.
Last year, the event was attended by 424 consumers. Tickets are $30.00 in advance and $35 the day of with all proceeds going to Willis Dady Homeless Services. Tickets can be purchased on a Facebook page that will be up and running shortly as well as on the Willis Dady Website: https://www.willisdady.org/events
Our Committee would be honored to have you participate. Here are some specifics for your consideration.
Brewers will be asked to provide sample cases of beer funded through your sampling budgets as well as have personnel attend to sample and hand sell consumers. You are free to bring swag, promo items to give to consumers. Tables, Ice, Ice Tubs, Sampling glasses, Towels, Spit buckets will all be provided. I suggest each brewer bring 3-5 items to sample. Last year, 1 case of each variety was adequate. If a brewer is interested in supporting but unable to have someone come to represent, let me know as we will have some volunteers who can sample. We would clearly prefer brewery personnel to do the sampling given their knowledge of the brands and beers.

I will double check my calendar but plan to attend. Regardless I'll have posters made by that time to promote our Drink Local Festival.

I'll pencil it in for now. I'm trying to plan a trip back to the Carolinas around that time for the Azaleas, Dogwoods and Magnolia blossoms.

I might be able to help, or at least send beer.

Hops for housing 2020
Got another email. They’d like as much info about the beers and brewers they can get by the first week of March so they can print menus and whatnot. Don’t have to, but if you know what you’ll bring try to let me know.

Reminder, if possible let me know what you’ll be bringing to pour and some info about the beverage by the end of the week. If you can’t no problem, they’d just like to have as much printed on their brochures as possible.

I have been green lighted. I will be bringing a dual award winning Irish Export/Foreign Extra Stout. That is the only thing I know for sure. I may bring a second beer if we are going to be short.

A rhubarb saison, that's lighter on the rhubarb and heavier on the saison.

Re: Hops for housing 2020
Hops for Housing is moving forward as a virtual event. One thing they may do that we could still participate in is a Q&A session with pre submitted questions. I asked to see if they would want a couple home brewers to field some questions about our hobby.
