Good news, all CRBS members: the 2020 grain buy is on. We will be ordering through Clock House brewing. Please show your thanks to them by purchasing several of their beers on carry-out.
Orders and payment are due by the end of Saturday, April 25. All products on the lists from from Cargill and BSG are available to order. Two threads have been started on the forums: one for members to discuss sharing of a sack, and one to place orders. Please see the forums at cedarrapidsbrewingsociety.org and follow the instructions on those threads.

I'll kick off the share discussions with announcing that I intend to buy a case of Five Star Acid #5. That's four one-gallon jugs. The price is $55 plus a haz-chem shipping fee to be determined.
Now that quantity would keep my stainless clean for many, many years to come. So, I'd like to split it with other brewers who would like a portion of the four gallons. That doesn't need to be one of the one gallon jugs as long as you supply an acid-safe bottle(s) for the quantity you would like.
Anyone interested in a share?
Also, I'm interested in splitting a quantity of PBW, Star San, and Sani-clean.

Karl, I'd take some Star San or Saniclean. Looks like Acid #5 is specifically for passivation. But can't yo do that with Star San/Saniclean too? I guess I'd like to hear why you want #5 specifically?
Pat, I'm thinking of getting a bag of the Weyermann Barke Pilsner, I could split that with you if you are interested.

If a group of brewers would like to split up some Rice Hulls, I would be in for 10 maybe 15 pounds.
Caution here....rice hulls take up more space than grain. Would probably use clean garbage bags to split larger quantities.

I think I still have about 5 gallons (volume) of rice hulls in the basement. How much do you need?

I want half a bag of Pilsner. Travis and Randy can arm wrestle for the rest of it.
Anyone want wheat?

Regarding the Weyermann Pilsner: I'll take half a bag. That way Pat can split one with Travis and Randy and I can split a second bag (or some combination like that.) I volunteer to order one bag and then split with one of you.
Regarding the Acid #5: It's often used in the regular CIP routine for fermentors and kettles. Basically after use 1) hot water rinse, 2) PBW (somewhat caustic) wash, 3) hot water rinse, 4) acid rinse (#5 preferred, #6 in special circumstances), and 5) air dry for passivation. Then for fermentors Sani-Clean rinse before use or for kettles water rinse before use. Since I'm lazy and have a CIP setup for the fermentor and kettle, I intend to use that cycle. The acid wash also gets stuff like beer stone and mineral deposits that PBW doesn't get.

Good enough. I will grab a bag of the regular Pilsner and split it with Travis.

Sorry, a bit late to the game.
A reminder that I still have 2 gallons of StanSan and 8 lbs of PBW leftover from last year's buy for folks that might be interested in smaller quantities. PBW is $3/lb and StarSan is $9/Qt.

I just looked at my stock of chemicals and found a full 4-lb jar of PBW from last year that I had forgotten I had in addition to the other half-full 4-lb jar. Looks like I'm good on that for a year.
I will, Tony, take you up on a quart of the StarSan. I'll find a quart bottle that I can drop off on your porch with some cash.
