Bump. I missed last month's meeting, so I don't know where the August meeting is going to be held.

Pandemics, inland hurricanes, power outages, cleaning up property damage.....so many excuses to not meet....but f@#* it! Let's meet! Who knows what may happen over the next month!

Our August 2020 meeting will be at Clock House on Thursday, 8/20, social hour at 7 PM, the meeting will begin at 8 PM. As always, it's open to the public and you are welcome to bring beverages to share. If you are thinking about joining the club this a great time to check us out and meet some of our members.

The local authorities have presented a few new requirements since we last met.....in addition to social distancing, everyone at the taproom (and outside) must have a chair, and should sit in that chair except when going to get a beer or to the bathroom. And they (the state?) have provided an online means of reporting violations.....violations can include a $1000 fine to the bar/brewery and 3-day suspension of their liquor license....so we can push tables together and have a seat.

We may have a 9 PM curfew...but I hear that is going to be extended to midnight. I'm sure if you are in your car going somewhere, along a main road....I doubt there will be any roadblocks enforcing it a precisely 9 PM, but there is always that risk.

The Cabinet has not been able to meet, so we'll be winging it this month.

No formal agenda except, to greet any guests we might have...we will hear reports from any of the attending Cabinet members....but mainly we will discuss the details for the CRBS Barrel-Aged Brew 2020....The style (the recipe would soon follow), where will the barrel be located, beer distributions, and lets establish some target brew/ferment/and drop off dates.

Feel free to start that discussion here.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

CRBS Barrel-Aged Brew 2020

Style selection....we've kicked around a few specific styles but I think we really should focus (limit?) the process associated with the style. To have maximum participation, I suggest we select a style that can be produced by partial mash or all-grain methods.....all extract would be a plus....but soaking a bag of specialty grains is not a huge leap from all extract.

We should select a style that is rather forgiving with regard to temperature control during fermentation....unless we can assemble enough members to pull together 50+ gallons of beer and have a wide range of temperature control of their fermentation. But even then, during the aging process, if kept in a cellar, the temperature range may vary between September to January from a high of 60+ degrees and down to the mid fifties.

We need to work out how the finished beer will be re-distributed....and I would propose the club receive 5 gallons for pour events next winter (happy hours, etc.). The remainder would be distributed back to the brewers, scaled to the amount a brewer contributed (e.g. 5 gallons or 10 gallons).

So let the discussion begin.

Cool. Looking forward to seeing folks and sharing horror stories from the derecho. I'll scrounge up something to bring. I haven't brewed in months.

My new mantra is, scream it at the top of your lungs, "F@CK 2020!"

Travis you had 5 lbs. Which is $4.57. I accept cash or a beer as well.

Derek and Mike have 10 lbs. So $9.15.

Thanks for the response, Daryl. I'll plan to be there tonight. Like Tony, I'll have to scrounge and see what I have that's cold, although sampling will be weird if we can't leave our seats.
