Here are the competition styles for the 2021 Brewer of the Year competition, the turn-in dates, styles, and categories are:
January - Trappist Single (26A)
April - Schwarzbier (8B)
May - Braggot (M4A)*
July - Berliner Weisse (23A)
October - American Porter (20A)

Turn-ins are at the respective monthly membership meetings unless special arrangements are made in advance. Judging will follow as soon after as possible.

Each entry must accompanied by a completed AHA/BJCP Bottle Identification Form. The essential data required are name, phone number, Email Address, Name of Beer, Category Entered, and Subcategory Entered. Additional information may be required as specified by the style.

*For Braggot entries you MUST specify carbonation level (still, petillant, sparkling), Strength (hydromel, standard, sack or strong), and sweetness (dry, semi-sweet, sweet). You may optionally also include what type(s) of honey were used and/or what the base beer style is. Note that a beer with a small amount of honey is NOT a braggot.

Please attach the AHA/BJCP Bottle Identification Form by wrapping the form around the bottle and securing it with a rubber band. A good practice is to place the form in a small ziplock bag prior to attaching it to the bottle, so that if the bottle sweats, it will not damage the form. Please DO NOT glue or tape the forms to your entries.

If you would like to have your score sheets emailed to you after the judging make sure that you include your email address on the bottle ID. While we can't guarantee it will happen we are going to try to the sheets emailed back to participants this year.

Do we have any plans for how or when we're going to turn in and judge the Trappist Single?

If you have entries for the Trappist Single style, please keep an eye here for turn-in opportunities. You are welcome to come to my house to turn in entries (near Stone City). I'm tentatively going to be at Lion Bridge this Saturday around noonish. I'll may also be there on Wednesday afternoon (20th). Others may also post available times/places.

I would like to get these judged the last week of January. If you are interested in helping with that please post when you are available.

Hey Randy,

My beer is still conditioning. When is the last possible date to turn this in?

I don't have a date for judging yet. Hopefully next week. You need to get the entry to me or one of the other judges (TBD) before we judge them.

Speaking of that, who is available to help judge?

Yes. If Randy doesn't want to come in, I can take it and relay it to him.

How many bottles do we turn in?

2 unmarked, anonymous bottles. Each bottle will need a bottle entry form.

Hold the label on the bottle, and put a rubber band around the bottle and on the outside of the label.

If you really want to do it right....put the label in a small sealable sandwich or snack bag (so the label can be read through the bag), and place that on the bottle and put a rubber band around it. This protects the ink from running on the label, when condensation forms on the bottle.

Good Luck,
D

We're going to be judging this Sunday, 2pm at Tony's house. We could use one more judge if someone is interested. If you still have a beer to enter we need it before then.

I'm going to try and make it to Thew on Friday around 4. You can drop your entry off then.

We're postponing until Wednesday evening. We could still use another judge if anyone can help.
