November Meeting Location

Post by tony b »

Seeing as we will be electing officers at this meeting, and voting is only open to current dues-paying members, I'd suggest that we reach out to Quarter Barrel and see if they'd host us again? This will give us all the space we need to spread out and the privacy to hold the elections.

Just a suggestion.

Haley has agreed to host us at Thew.

Unless they change their hours, they close at 7 PM....so after 7 PM, we will have the place to ourselves.

How will the Governor's new gathering order affect our meeting next week?
Effective at midnight, the proclamation prohibits gatherings of more than 25 people indoors, or 100 people outdoors, at social, community, recreational, or sporting gatherings, unless all people over the age of 2 wear a mask.

Groups of individuals attending these events are limited to 8 people unless they are from the same household and must maintain social distancing from other groups. This goes for bars and restaurants as well. Social distancing standards will continue to be enforced.

I don't think we should have an in person meeting. I don't feel safe attending. Iowa cases are exploding and hospitals are at or very near capacity.

We need to either postpone the election or implement an online alternative.

At a minimum, the club meeting will be held virtually.

The Cabinet will meet and discuss what options are available to us for holding elections.

Thanks Tony.

The proclamation is clear; the Club can not meet face to face this month.

The Cabinet will meet and discuss how and when we can proceed with elections.

Is anyone running with opposition? If not, can we do a virtual meeting with all the words Mark Jensen says to make it official?

At this point, everyone is running unopposed.

I believe we can, by vote of approval of the attending membership, modify the election process for 2020, due to the COVID restrictions that are currently in place.

The motion would be to dispense with the prescribed election process for the 2020 election and proceed to accept or reject the unopposed positions by acclamation. This could be done position by position, or all in one go.

I just sat down to create Google forms for tomorrow night's elections. I previously had the hairbrained scheme that we could hold our election through the polls feature on Zoom. Trying to do it on Zoom would be a nightmare.

Daryl has stated that everyone is running unopposed for the cabinet positions. I am relieved that I do not have to make ballots.

However, if you are interested in running for a cabinet position I can whip up a ballot tomorrow at the beginning of the meeting, before elections start.

Check back in the Members Only section of the forum for details on the virtual meeting.
