We received the following information from the BrewBQ Craft Brew Zone Coordinator, John Hougen.
"The Independence BrewBQ is on August 28, 2021. We are all excited to be able to gather for our 15th annual event. Like so many other events we have been on a hiatus for a year but we are looking forward to a great event this summer. Your participation helps to make this a featured craft brew event in Northeast Iowa. Your presence in the Craft Brew Zone helps us showcase wonderful Iowa brews. The Craft Brew Zone operates from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. We can provide tents and will provide tables, ice, and buckets to keep your beer cold. If you want to serve from the usual shelter location let me know."

It's the week after the Drink Local Festival, so it would be a good option for anyone with leftover beer. We can discuss it at the upcoming meetings.

Let's reserve the shelter....it's tradition.

And the one of the best places to be if it rains.

In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout

Just a reminder to all that BrewBQ is August 28th, the Saturday after the Brew Local Festival.

Set in the Craft Brew Zone will be available anytime after noon on August 28 and will run from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. We need to arrive to set up no later than 2:00 pm as the CBZ opens promptly at 3:00 pm for the VIP ticket holders. We have reserved our usual space under the shelter, so we won't have to mess around with setting up the tents. They will provide tables and ice. CBZ will provide souvenir tasting glasses for each person providing beer for the event. Other people assisting will receive a previous year’s glass for sampling.

They have also asked each brewery or brew club to select a beer that will be unique to the VIP ticket buyers. Extras of this beer can be served during the last hour of operation of the Craft Brew Zone. They would like a list of the beers we're bringing by Friday, August 20, but have said that we can wait until after our festival to see what's left. Do we want to wait until after our festival to also pick the VIP beer, or does one of our brewers have a special beer to volunteer now?

I just assumed that we'd pour the Club's barrel-aged beer as our VIP beer?

I think that's a good idea if we have someone with a keg of it. We'll see if Mike has any left after our festival.

We have two small kegs - we will crack one open for our Festival....I'd like to keep the second one for next year's Barrel Aged January Happy Hour, presuming we are doing Happy Hours at LB again.

I checked and I have a good amount of my peach sour left and it still tastes pretty good, so I'll offer that up as a VIP pour.

I added 3 meads to the app for Brew B Que.

How many taps do you want to set up?

Looks like 12 products so far. That means swapping out half way through on one bar or setting up two bars. I have lots of product left. If you want to round things out for the 10-tap and 8-tap at the same time, I can add more stuff to the app.

One bar or two is manageable, as long as we have the trailer...if you want to run one of your own stations Pat, we can set you up.

To save time cleaning up, around 6:30 PM we can shutdown one of the bars to get a start on purging the beer lines.

Who is attending Brew BQ?

I know I am going, and Pat is going.

Who else?

It is a good time, a friendly crowd, and some good beers.

I'll be there and bringing the Bulgarian with me. He's arriving tomorrow. I have 3 beers in the app - the peach sour is my VIP beer, plus the 2 leftovers from our Festival.

I will be there. I can bring my White Velvet hard seltzer. I can also bring whatever I have left of the club barrel-aged porter if we need more of it. I think Mike put 5 bombers of it on the beer list.

I added three more products.

So, the table top (6 taps) would work for me.
