more small batch brewing

OK,
Now on to more specific Q's. I'm tinking about starting out with half batches for simplcity. It looks like I can buy carboys (either glass or better bottle) in 3 gallon sizes. So if I put only 2.5 gallon in them for primary and secondary will that be too much air?
