August Meeting

The August meeting will be held on August 17th at the Harborview pavilion in Ellis park. I've reserved the pavilion with the city from 5pm to 10pm. I think that we'll probably get started around 6 if we're going to have a cookout. I'll get there a little earlier and start lighting the grills so that they're ready to cook when people arrive.
The Harborview pavalion is on the hill above the stone gazebo at Ellis.
Beer is permitted in containers smaller than 1 quart without a permit, kegged beer requires a permit. That does rule out growlers if we want to stick to the letter of the law, but I doubt it will be a problem as long as we behave ourselves. If we do want to bring kegs, we can arrange for a permit for an additional $12.

Adam, thanks for taking care of this for us, looking forward to it!

I am assuming you mean August 17th. Please let me know if that is not the case. Also, thanks for setting this up!

Since this is next week, lets get a sign-up sheet for things to bring. Do we want to do a club purchase of meat then have everyone bring a side dish or do we want to have everyone bring their own meat, plates, drinks, etc. then bring a dish to pass.
Lets get some conversations going on this one.
We also need to get a tally on who is showing up?

Well, I'll bring my weber and charcoal in any case and have it all fired up by about 6. I'll also plan to have plastic flatware, cups and paper plates. Having a rough idea of how many will give me an idea of how many to bring.
I'll also bring some coleslaw.

I plan on attending. If there are enough of us, and depending on what type(s) of meat, I could bring my weber as well. I.e., if we're cooking brats, then one weber would probably suffice. If we're cooking steaks, more cooking surface might be preferable.
I volunteer to bring some sort of dessert. And I volunteer Karl to bring German potato salad.... ;^) ;^)

I'll also offer to take care of the meat for grilling. I'm thinking chicken legs. They're tasty and grill up pretty quickly so I can easily make more as people arrive.
I propose that we take a look at session style beers (bitters, milds, light lagers, etc.), that seems like an appropriate pairing for a cookout.

You can never have enough Webers. I have a jumbo joe i'll bring just in case. (18" grate)
I plan to attend. At this point i don't know what to bring. Seems like everything is covered. I can bring Dutch Ovens and cook something in those. Cornbread, maybe an apple crisp for dessert? Not really enough time for beans or anything - i usually cook those for hours.

Well, I plan on attending. And I peeled a dozen peaches for peach cobbler, so other people had better show up!

Peach Cobbler.....oooo that sounds awesome. Are you cooking it there or bringing it ready to eat?

Rain or Shine

I'll be there rain or shine.
The picnic area I reserved has a big roof over it so we won't get wet no matter how bad the weather turns out to be.
I have about 10 lbs. of chicken legs in my marinade now. I'll start getting them grilled and sauced when I get there a little before 6.
See you all tonight.

I think what I will do is bring my dutch ovens and cook baked beans (store bought, sorry) and cornbread. Adam - if you want to keep legs warm in a sauce bath after they are grilled we can do that in one of my ovens also.
