DIY Threw-Mometer

Post by DrPaulsen »

I put together a DIY version of the in-line thermometer you can buy online. I've named it the "Threw-Mometer" b/c I went to the hardware store and just threw a few things together.

Check it out:

I was very close to buying one of the commercial versions until the owner of the company that makes them informed me that they only come compatible with 3/8" tubing and they have no plans to use 1/2". Since I have zero desire to buy more tubing and adapters, I spent some time studying his patent and came up with this instead.

I think the total price was about $13.

There was an article in BYO or Zymurgy showing how to make one in the last few years too. They had a food grade clear plastic for one which was cool for seeing wort flow if your tubing is not very clear.
