1/6 HP Submersible Pumps $19.99 at Menards

Post by Matt F »

Was just at Menards and picked up a 1/6 HP submersible pump with a garden hose fitting on sale for $19.99 after a $15 mail in rebate. You don't get cash, just in-store credit. For me, it doesn't take long to burn through $15 at Menards. I am going to use it for a keg washer like in the picture, re-circulating ice water in my chiller and pushing water from a rain barrel to a sprinkler, and the garden. Might be nice for all the beer you folks spill at my bar too.

I really like the keg-washer idea. I might have to make one of these myself.

But, instead of feeding both the inlet and outlet (and letting it overflow through the center), I think I'd do it like this diagram. The water does more work this way, and you don't have to have 5 gallons of water + sink water + pump worth of weight sitting in the sink.

I also saw a nice one that goes upside down has connections for your in out. Put also a high pressure sprayer for inside. The basic design worked out of a pail as well so you can just leave the pail with sanitizer in it in your basement and hookup kegs as needed.

I will see if I can find and post. I had already planned to build that one so I have it sitting around somewhere.

No, not sure how long the sale runs. I recall seeing what you described Jeremy. If you find the article can you post which issue it is in here?

Will do.

Usually places like menards run their specials weekly, so I would assume it would be good till Friday or Saturday. However, that is only an assumption. Might be in the sale pages if you go to their site online.

I think I'm going to pick one of these up, as I want to build or buy an immersion chiller soon, and this would be cool for recirc'ing ice water as Matt said.
