Peacetree 6-packs now in town

Just saw my first 6-pack of Peacetree at Hy-Vee Drug on Center Point and Blairs Ferry. They are using bottles shaped like Red Stripe with an extra sticky label. I plan to get some simply to use for my homebrew. Always liked the Red Stripe bottles but the labels were painted on. I am also seeing a growing selection of beers around town thanks to the new laws. Very cool!

I did like the porter/stout. I do not like the Hop Wrangler. More like Hop Dangler.

I like their funky packaging - paper bags.

But, as I've posted before, the Hop Wrangler was a serious disappointment. 6 hop additions - maybe one cone each!

The paper bags are being replaced by 6 pack carriers.

I am not a fan of Hop Wrangler either but remember what it is. It is more like the Belgian inerpretation of IPA's that hit the market a few years ago which were basically belgian pales and trippels with more hops. It uses american and english hops. English hops are more subdued than the big american IPA you may love which are mainly brash american hops. The wrangler also uses a belgian yeast which provides esters and such that I find don't let all the hoppiness through like the american ale strains. I agree, when I see all these hops and additions I expect something and I don't get it from the Wrangler. Glad to hear their porter/stout was nice. I will try it and others as they hit the shelves.

Matt,
I was thinking long similar lines yesterday. A few years ago their wrangler would have been considered too hoppy for an APA, but by today's standards it comes across a little weak. Most of today's Pales are pushing the style limits, and I have a hard time defining the differenced between APA and IPA, much less between IPA and IIPA.

I do appreciate them taking a different approach and trying to be different. Hopefully they will grow and continue to get better.

I just think if a beer has a name like Hop Wrangler, it should be hop forward. That beer is not. I also liked their Hefe.

Has anyone is the history of the English language ever used wrangler in the way of definition number 2?  This is the real question we should be asking ourselves.......  What is your motive Webster?  We're on to you.

Greetings All, Today at the Hy-Vee Drug store on Blairs Ferry & Center
Point Road someone brought in about 100 capable beer bottles many of
them with the Grolsh style closures and 5 of the milk carton case
style beer holders. The bottles are 5 cents each if you want them and
the plastic beer bottle holders are free - they normally just throw them
out. Just ask to look thru the returned bottles in the back room - I'm
sure most of you know the drill. The deal is only good until the Can
Shed arrives and picks them all up Thursday morning. Till then - Kevin

Kevin, thanks for the heads up, that was mighty kind of you. I’m at capacity for bottles but I’m sure someone in the club could use them.

Cheers
