Granite City Belgian Golden Strong Ale

Post by carrisr »

We hadn't been to GC in many months so decided to stop in tonight and have dinner. One of the their seasonals on tap right now is a Belgian Golden Strong Ale. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! While probably not the best example out there it was actually pretty good. ABV was listed as 9%, and they served in in a 16 once glass instead of the mugs. The aroma was a little weak, the the flavor was nice. I know it's not saying a whole lot, but it was probably the best GC beer I've had.

I was there a couple weeks ago and had the Belgian Strong Ale, along with some of their other brews that night. It was one of the better beers. Could feel the alcohol warming a bit, but strong was not referring to the flavor.

Interesting note: Granite City should be called a Micro Fermentary as they receive wort for the main company and only ferment on-site.
