Shocked! Shocked I say!
Yes it is a shame. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
I believe Eric Sorenson from Rock Bottom in Des Moines is actually the winner of the Bronze in the altbier category # 59. Which gives IA one medal! That puts Iowa in with 12 other states with one medal and one medal above 11 states with no medals.
California brought it weak with 50 medals that I could count. ( i didn't count the pro am)

Also, they gave Pyramid Apricot a Silver over Raspberry Tart. Now, unless Pyramid's a _lot_ better than it used to be, those judges were on some good medication.

On the up side, with all the Pizza Port winners, with a few others from the San Diego area (Karl Strauss, Stone, etc.), lots of incentive to attend AHA Conference next year!!!
Here's a pdf copy of the winners list.

Having drank everything Pizza Port had at GABF this weekend, which was over 20 beers, I can say they are all fantastic. You should not hesitate to go to San Diego. Not sure I will go because I had a big year this year doing NHC and GABF. If you have the means, I highly recommend it. It is so choice.
Funny thing was their Lost Abbey division had a long line all four sessions. Pizza Port had tables for each of their individual brew pubs. They had no lines until after the awards Saturday. Luckily since they have been one of my favorite breweries for years, they had been my go to for two days already. Great stuff!
