2011 Elections
2011 Elections
All current paid members -
Its time for elections, they will be held during or around the November meeting. Those elected will go into office Jan. 1, 2011
Currently the Cab consist of:
Travis - Big T - prez
Tony - VP
Jim P - aka potsy - Treasurer
Canadian J - aka Jeremy - Secretary
For those listed above, please post your intentions to run again or not. For anyone who would like to be part of the leadership team please post who you are (not hawkeylover or brewdog) but your name and the position you wish to run for. All non apposed positions will be re-elected at the November meeting.
For any positions that are challenged, you will be given some time to speak to the group to promote yourself through this thread as well as verbally through our October meeting.
Please keep in mind the commitment to being part of the cabinet group. It will require an additional meeting each month currently the second Wednesday of each month that takes aprox. 2 hours to meet and discuss topics such as marketing, club collaborations, club funds, activities etc.
Also each position has its own unique responsibilities as well which some are apparent but if you have any questions feel free to ask. But most of all it requires quite a bit more time, so please keep in mind your schedule when committing to or running for a spot in the leadership team.
I'd also like to take a quick moment to recognize the great group we have now, it seems every year we become a more organized group, and even though we have a larger presence in the eastern Iowa area, a large club body, and great hands on and other learning resources this club still continues to be lots of fun for myself. I hope everyone that has contributed over this last year whether its the leadership team or you donated beer at an event, time serving beer, hosting a club event, promoting to friends, etc. want to make sure you all know that you still make a difference regardless of your position within the club. The leadership team just tackles on some of the less interesting aspects that help drive the club to stay focused and organized even in the high gravity beer cloud that sometimes puts a haze on our regular meetings.
A couple things I would like to recognize the current leadership on that many of you might not know is that that they do above and beyond the cabinet position requirements such as:
Jim actually host our website so we avoid monthly server cost, I do logo and other print work for the biz cards, banners, website, patches etc. as well as update the site. Canadian J as many of you know has repeatedly hosted and put together the new tech meetings this year and Tony covers up and presidential scandals that may occur, witch thank god has had nothing to do with our secretary!
I’ve had a good time this year and plan on running for president again and feel I can help make some more progress for next year so I hope to be a driving force for that. But hope anyone that believes they can do better steps up to any of these postions.
I’m Travis Savchenko and I approve this message..

I'm back in the running for Vice President.
I've seen the Club gain some momentum this year and grow in a good way. I'd like to help keep that going.

Thank you Tony, Jim and Tim for throwing your name in the hat. At the moment I take it that you are all running for your current position with the exception of Tim which has not specified what you would like to run for. Again, I'm running for president again.
Anyone interested in running, please make note of your intentions and position before the meeting next Thursday. Again any spot is available, and you will be given a chance if you are running against another member to voice your views. Elections will be held at the November meeting by current members only.

Are you still interested in spearheading the tech meetings? You have been doing an awesome job.BrewHound wrote:In that case I will not run again, I did the job as no one else wanted it. I am more then happy to pass the torch so to speak.brownbeard wrote:I am going to run for secretary.

True that. Maybe we add some additional offices. Jeremy can be our Lead Tech. I would run for Beer Camp Czar if folks would like me to put together that outing again. Gonna be earlier next time to avoid the rush of beer events in August and September. Oh, and Karissa's birthday.

An events coordinator might not be a bad office to add. I do think tech leader is an interesting idea as well.Matt F wrote:True that. Maybe we add some additional offices. We have all ready been pushing committees so you have a leadership team and for special projects like the club tap box..hint hint..you have specialized groups. This way you can utilize special talents and recources for individual committees but rotate to avoid burn out which im concerned with cj on the tech meetings..they can be complicated.
A dedicated general events coorinator might fall in the same boat doing all the events and get burnt out. Which is why were looking for leads to take on different events..or committee if you feel u need a group of folks.
Im sure you can still be camp czar franklin..just bring plenty of ris.

Hey, always willing to do what I can, sure, I enjoy having them, I might start to solicit some help to make sure we continue to have one each and every month though.brownbeard wrote:Are you still interested in spearheading the tech meetings? I would like to announce my candidacy for the position of president of the Cedar Rapids Beer Nuts. I enjoy being a part of this club and feel that we can go further in many aspects. I feel that as club president I can take this club further with your support.
This is not to take away from our current president Travis Savchenko, he as well as the past presidents of the club (and board member), have all done excellent jobs and advanced the club each year. However, there are areas that I feel I can improve upon for current standing and from previous years. This is a job that requires many additional hours of work for little recognition and no pay. So you probably ask yourself then why do it? I do it because I enjoy Beer, I enjoy the club, and I enjoy the friendships with all of you that I have made through this club, and truly care about the clubs future.
So with that said, I hope that I can count on your support for the position of president of the CR Beer Nuts. If elected I promise to make this an even better year then previous for the club and for each of the brewers who are involved in it.
I am Jeremy Orchuk and I am running for President!
