Maximizing your gas

I figure many already know this but just in case you don't...

If you are using one of those propane tank exchange places you are getting ripped off. The tanks are rated for 20# of propane, yet the ones you get by exchanging tanks are usually only filled to 15#.

I use a local refilling station to fill mine and get 20# in them for around $18. I checked at Menard's, and they charge about the same rate for 15#.

This has to be the first time someone has asked me to maximize my gas, usually I am getting requests for reductions!

$.80 a pound at the Do-It-Best on Edgewood Rd. About $17.25 a tank with tax.
If the tank isn't empty you only pay for what you get. Nice if your not sure if you have enough for that next batch. I usually take in 2 at a time though.

I just refilled last weekend at DoItBest Hardware on Edgewood. It was still .80 a pound. $16 for a FULL 20# refill.
