Some bad news about hosting brew club Thurs night. I went to a 40th birthday party Sat and most of my homebrewed beer went with me. I usually have 5-6 beers on tap. I now have 1 beer on tap and that one is still not ready for consumption. I'm brewing tonight but that won't do much good Thursday.

That's OK, I assume everyone will bring some beer so we should be OK. Plus, we will have good access to your private stash of goodies!

Another good reason for having the meetings at a "neutral" site, such as the LongBranch - no expectation that the host provides beer for the meeting. While that is a nice jesture on the part of the volunteer hosts, it shouldn't be an expectation.

Besides, when have we ever run out of beer? Maybe I leave too early.

Actually, I think it's the opposite.  When I host, I expect others to bring beer.  After all, I'm going to the trouble of hosting.

Yeah, the host is not supposed to supply most of the beer, the club members are supposed to bring beer to share. Shouldn't be a problem.

On another note, I may or may not make the meeting due to the fact that I'm under the weather right now. I'll see how I'm feeling by Thurs. but right now I feel like hammered owl shit. Maybe a beer will make me feel better. I've heard that oak aged Scotch ales have medicinal benefits.

The Willie's Got Wood may help fix you up. Hammered Owl Shit! That sounds horrible.

I have been fighting off the "hammered owl shit" sickness all week; today was the first day I went to work this week. John's starting to get it, too.

Pappy, my presciption is spicy food and alcohol (beer or wine).

Still planning the bacon-wrapped cheddar brats for snacks.

Hammered owl shit here, too. My remedy usually involves whiskey or vodka.

Actually, that is one of the primary reasons I enjoy hosting Beer Club. I don't drink at home on a regular basis, so that is my oppertunity to lower the level on my kegs a bit. If you drunks didn't come over and help I would be dumping beer because of it going past it's prime. Guess it all depends on who you are and your situation, though I can understand and that should not be an expectation of the club go'ers.

I know I enjoy hosting. Sometimes I am out of beer and it has never been a problem. As noted before, running out of beer has yet to be an issue for a club meeting. When I host, I also want people to drink my beer when it is available. Thanks for the heads up though Brian and please do not feel bad because the taps ran dry.

Also, I enjoy hosting the meetings. Please do not host a meeting because you feel an obligation to be in the rotation. I am available to host any meeting from March through November. My wife actually prefers when I host so she knows I am safe at home. She said I can host every meeting if I want to. December through February are a challenge unless you want to sled down to the house. It can be done, just watch the turns. Ask Brian Anderson for details on that. Four wheel drive will get you in and out year-round. In the four winters so far, I have only parked at the top of the hill twice. My parking is a bit constrained, but it seems like we always make it work. There is always parking available at the top of the hill along the main road if you don’t want to mess with the crowded driveway.

Oh, believe me I don't feel obligated to serve my beer but for anyone who’s been to my house, I usually always have 3-4 beers on tap. I’m hoping we get a great showing tonight for the club meeting but it sounds like we might have some sick lings…keep that shit at home. I’m looking forward to some Oktoberfest beers but more importantly to those imperial beers everyone will be bringing. See ya all tonight. I have plenty of taster glass so don’t worry about having to bring your own.

I will bring some of my Sticky Icky IPA that was third in the club comp and Willie's Got Wood, my oak aged scotch ale.
